Wikipedia is a free online user based encyclopedia, its contents are edited by non professional volonteers, and entirely free, although donation sustained, it covers all domains, and is the biggest, though maybe not the most accurate, encyclopedia avaible nowadays.
Wikileaks is a website intended to give anyone the ability to share information with total anonyma, and by this mean allow confidential or sensible information to be shared throughout the world.
Both of them are wikis-based, that is for say, they contain mostly pages modifiable by users.
Comprehensive, easy to use, polyglot, although not always accurate, wiki based sites are already essential, extensively used, and will probably spread their influence even further in the future, to the expense of other medias.

ReplyDeleteI'm all for "Freedom of Speech", but you forget that obscene words have real power. The power to insult, they are used to disrespect people. For you they may just be fun foreign words, but do not play around with them when you are dealing with native speakers of English.
To use them in a class assignment, (especially one published on the web!) is seen as form of disrespect.
